Supra World’s This weekend Live on Fuel!!!

Supra is Charged Up About the Worlds!Maryville, TN (August 27, 2008) ~ The WWA’s most prestigious event of the year, the Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Supra opens at its new location next week in downtown Oklahoma City’s Oklahoma River. Supra announced their excitement to take this event to the next level back in February and have since created even more unique activities during the Worlds and after hours. Get ready for high-flying action on the water and good times on the ground!

Supra and co-sponsor Reichhold will host a Practice Run for Worlds Qualifiers Wednesday, September 3rd from noon to 7 pm. The Practice Run will give qualifiers the opportunity to ride behind the actual event towboat with pro-rider and Wakeboarding Magazine’s Instruction Editor, Kyle Schmidt. National qualifiers can register for the Practice Run at http://www.supraboats.com.

There are three key elements that are back by popular demand, the Commemorative DVD co-sponsored by Roswell, Family Night co-sponsored by Jabsco and the Supra VIP Hospitality Tent co-sponsored by Kenwood. The Roswell commemorative DVD is a keepsake of each qualifiers experience riding in the championships and features one on one interview’s between Team Supra Pro Riders and qualifiers just moments before their run.

This year’s Jabsco Family Night will take place at P2R Pole Position Raceway. Qualifiers and their families will be treated to dinner and a real side by side racing tournament at an indoor race track. It’s like a golf tournament on steroids with go karts racing up to 45 mph on a ¼ euro style road course. In addition, qualifiers and their families will be able to kick back and watch all 16 divisions compete in style at Supra‘s luxurious VIP Hospitality Tent co-sponsored by Kenwood. Leather couches, large LCD TV’s, cold drinks and good food are a few of the items available to accommodate VIP’s.

New elements added to this year’s event include Demo Days and the Dinner of Champions Red Carpet Awards Banquet co-sponsored by Kicker and OJ Props. Demo Days, co-sponsored by Waterski Boats of Dallas will offer spectators the chance to test drive or ride behind a Supra Launch 24SSV. Not only can you watch the Worlds, but you can get out on the water and even get wet! Demo Days also offers the opportunity to try out some of the latest wakeboard gear from leading industry manufacturers.

Supra is super stoked about the redesigned premier event co-sponsored with Kicker and OJ Props, “The Dinner of Champions Red Carpet Awards Banquet.” This year’s awards ceremony has been brought indoors to the host hotel’s ballroom at the Sheraton OKC. Qualifiers and their families will be treated to a true red carpet experience. Families will have the opportunity to sit at the pro rider’s table of their choice. Additional tables will feature President of Skiers Choice, Rick Tinker, Marketing Director of Skiers Choice, Michael Littman, Founder of the WWA Shannon Starling and Worlds Sports and Marketing’s very own Chris Bischoff and Sean Dishman.

After the success of last years event, Rick Tinker asked, “What can we do to make the World’s even bigger and better in 2008?” Plans have been underway since the close of the ‘07 World’s. Supra is taking their sponsorship even further than anticipated. “We are glad to have this opportunity to give back to the sport which we love,” stated Rick Tinker.

Another unique element available to fans that do not have the opportunity to catch all the high flying, rail-sliding water-sports action in Oklahoma City, is the ability to catch the exciting LIVE footage of all 16 divisions at http://www.fuel.tv/wakeboardworlds beginning Friday, Sept. 5 and wrapping up on Sunday, Sept. 7. In addition to watching all the action, fans can be part of it as well, as viewers will be able to e-mail in real time direct to commentators Nick Weinacker and “the Noise of the North” Dano Amir in the announcers tower during the webcast. Viewers can share comments, opinions or just give a shout-out to riders, friends and family at the event.

And last but not least, Supra will debut the all new 2009 Supra Launch Worlds Edition, the Official Towboat of the Rockstar WWA Wakeboard Worlds Championships that has dealers customers going crazy. The brand new Worlds Edition was just unveiled to dealers on August 10th and is so popular that it is already on back order…now that’s one hot boat! Look for more details about the Supra Launch Worlds Editions to be revealed later this week.

Vapor Lock Alert

We have had a few customers call and tell us about a few vapor locking issues that are occuring so we thought we would put an alert out to explain what is going on and what can be done to keep this from happening.  Keep in mind, this is not just a Supra/Moomba thing.  All boat manufacturers are fighting this problem.

Just this year, gas with ethanol is being introduced into our area gas stations.  Unfortunately this is causing some problems in some instances with a problem called vapor locking.  Most instances where we see this is if the engine (most of the time it is the 340 hp ETX/CAT engine) has been running hard for a good while and then is turned off for 30-45 minutes.  When the boat is cranked again it will sometimes not crank or start, then run rough and die.  This happens because when you introduce ethanol in gas, it lowers the boiling point of gas quite a bit.  When the engine is turned off, all of the heat from the engine is kept confined in the engine compartment.  This essentially boils the gas in the fuel lines and fuel filter.  When the boat tries to  re-start, fumes are fed through the engine and it will not start at first.

All boat and engine manufacturers are working together with the National Marine Manufacturers Association (to stay under NMMA regulations) to find a remedy to this problem.  In the meantime, there are a few things that you as a boater can do to keep vapor lock from occuring.  First, keep your fuel filter changed.  Indmar and Skiers Choice recommends changing the filter every 50 hours now, not 100 as stated in the owners manual.  Second, run your blower more often.  Many times we will run the blower the entire time that the boat is on the water.  This will keep the air circulating in the engine compartment and bilge area.  Third, if you have been running your boat and decide to stop and swim for a bit, open the engine compartment to let the engine compartment cool off.

If vapor locking happens to occur it is not the end of the world and normally will not require a service.  First, open your engine hatch to let your engine cool off.  After 15-20 minutes the engine should be cool enough to start and run fine.  If you do not have time to let the engine cool there are a few more things you can try.  First, open the engine hatch.  Grab a towel and get it wet or get a cup of water.  Put the towel against the fuel pump or pour a little water on the fuel pump so that it will cool down.  Turn the key on and off to the run position a few times and then try to start.  If this does not work the first time, repeat and try again.

We will keep you upadated as a fix for this problem should be in the works.  Until then, just a few simple changes in your boating habits will keep you happy on the water.
