1st in Market Share!!!

It was just announced that Skiers Choice boats are first in market share for the state of Arkansas!  That means more Skiers Choice boats (Supra and Moomba) were sold in the state than any other inboard boat.

Price point boats.

With the addition of a few price point boats to the market, I feel it important to point out what Moomba is, was, and always will be.

Moomba has over 20 years of proven performance, construction quality, wake quality, and resale value!!!  There is no settling with Moomba…..full boats with full windshields, complete instrumentation, matching style lines, many standard features, and a complete line of 20′-23′ boats that you know will be worth something when you go to sell it.

Construction of a Moomba is exactly like it’s high end sister company Supra.  Moomba hulls are currently constructed on the exact same production line as Supra.  Literally, the workers do not even know which boat they are building until it comes time to put in options and interiors.  The difference is Moomba keeps it simple.  Moomba gives you everything that a rider needs: a tower, ballast, speed control, and a tournament quality wake.  No frills, no extras, just a tournament boat you can depend on at a great price.

So when looking at a price point boat, remember to check out a Moomba.  PROVEN BOATS WITH A PROVEN VALUE.

Vapor Lock Advisory

We have started to get a few calls about Vapor Lock this year with the weather already being so hot and humid.  We wanted to put something together to help everybody out to hopefully prevent vapor lock from happening; and if it does happen, what to do to get you going on the water again.

To start, vapor lock is being caused by the ethanol in gasoline.  It IS NOT a Moomba, Supra, or Indmar issue.  We have seen vapor lock happen on every type of of the major inboard brands plus, a few I/O’s, and even a few outboards.

Here are a few things to prevent vapor lock from happening:

  • Try to get gasoline from a station that does not have ethanol in their gas.  DO NOT get gas from a marina on the water.
  • Keep your fuel filter changed regularly.  For an Indmar engine, that should be every 40-50 hours.
  • Run the Blue Stabil that fights against ethanol.
  • Run your blower continually.
  • If you are running your engine hard for a while and then decide to sit and swim or rest for a while, be sure to open your engine hatch to let your engine cool down.

If vapor lock were to happen, here are a few steps to take to get you running again:

  • Immediately open the engine hatch and turn on your blower so that your engine compartment can air out.  After the engine cools down (approx 30 minutes), your boat should start again.
  • To speed up the process, you can pour a few cups of water directly on the fuel filter (see owners manual for location) and along the fuel lines. You can also dip a towel in the water and hold it against the fuel pump (see owners manual for location).  The colder the water, the better.  After around 2-5 minutes, the engine should start.

Parks Clinic/Demo Information

We are waiting to see exactly what time Parks will arrive.  I will post as soon as I know.

We will have our tents with Ronix equipment ready to demo on Hamilton on the dock behind Cajun Boilers, just down the road from our shop. We will be set up from 10:30 until around 4:00, then will go back to the shop for an hour or so.  We will take a lunch break 12:30-1:30 there at Cajun’s.  There is no cost for the demo/clinic but you will need to bring money for lunch if you want to eat.

There are no set times for the demo/clinic, just show up and ride as long and as often as you want.  Anybody is welcome to hang out all day or come and go as you please.

Call or email if you have questions.

Top 10 Reasons to buy an Inboard over an I/O.

So obviously we are an inboard only boat dealership and believe that just about every boat owner should buy an inboard over any of the inboard/outboards on the market.  Of course there are those customers who are wanting a fishing boat, a slow riding pontoon boat, or a big 25 foot plus cabin boat……we are not talking to you.  Anyone out there wanting a 20’-24’ boat for cruising, skiing, tubing, or wakeboarding should strongly be considering an inboard boat.  We have actually found out that many do not look at inboards because they have either been fed wrong information or simply that they do not know much about them.  So we have put together the top 10 reasons why a person should buy an inboard (in no particular order).

  1.  Resale Value.  Inboards hold their value MUCH better than any other type of boat.  Look at NADA.com for proof.
  2. Construction.  Inboards are some of the best constructed boats on the market.  Most use 100% fiberglass and still hand lay their hulls.  This is the most consistent way to build a boat and eliminates all wood.
  3. Handling.  All you are steering with an inboard is a rudder, not a big outdrive.  One finger steering literally can effortlessly spin you around 180 degrees.
  4. The wake.  That’s what these boats are made for so inboards will give you the best wake possible for whatever sport you choose to do.  This makes your sport much safer and easier to do.
  5. Safety.  The prop is under the boat instead of hanging off the back of the boat.  With the advanced handling, the driver can also get back to the rider faster.
  6. Standard features.  Most inboards come standard with everything that you would want.  Towers, ballast, cruise control, board racks, and much more.
  7. Service and Maintenance.  Inboards are typically easier to work on, therefore less expensive to maintain.
  8. Cool Factor.  Let’s face it… inboards look a million times better than any I/O.
  9. Warranty.  Inboards use the best materials available and back it with the best warranties.
  10. Performance. Inboards handle like a sports car on the water.  Quicker turns, faster planning times, better speed control all contributing to being more fuel efficient.

So if you are in the market for a boat, you should at least consider an inboard.  Whether you are into water sports or not, chances are that a tube, ski, or wakeboard will pulled behind the boat during it’s lifetime.  Why not have a boat designed for it, plus have the advantages of an all around smarter purchase?

Remember, you can turn a ski or wakeboard boat into a cruising boat but you can’t turn a cruising boat into a ski or wakeboard boat.

2010 Wake Games Results

From Alliancewake.com:

http://www.alliancewake.com/wake/2010-nautique-wake-games/

Didn’t have the chance to make out to this year’s Nautique Wake Games? Well do not worry here is a video that will make you feel like you were there!

We start the video out with a little wakeskate action, where Reed Hansen will beat out Stu Shinn for 1st place. Brian Grubb takes home 3rd, and Brandon Thomas rounds out the final heat in 4th place.

Then as the day goes on Jr. Pro Men take to the water and go huge! Canadian Raph Derome beats the rest of the guys for 1st place looking really comfortable out there. West Coaster Jacob Valdez beats out East Coasters Daniel Powers and Freddy Wayne for 2nd place.

The Pro Women’s final was a 6 woman heat full of some of the sport’s top riders. Dallas Friday has been working hard all winter training and it payed off for her, taking 1st place. Nicola Butler would manage to beat out fellow Oakley team rider Amber Wing to take 2nd.

Pro Men’s Final was probably the most unexpected makeup of the day. Rookie Bob Soven would beat out Rusty Malinoski and brother Phillip Soven for a spot in the finals. Harley Clifford was riding great all day and was able to beat out Bob for 1st place. Bob would take home second place with JD Webb following right behind him in 3rd. Josh Palma’s first pro final ever would put him in 4th place above fellow Hyperlite team member Jimmy Lariche. It was one of the hottest days in Florida this year and one of the hottest days on the water all weekend.
